Conversion of NDC grab crane at MEBIN

EPMC Europe Crane Solutions carried out the electric conversion of this 6.3 tonne NDC grab crane belonging to concrete specialist MEBIN, including new motors. Again, we installed an energy recovery system (Active Front End) to save energy and to feed the surplus energy back into the grid. This contract mainly involved electrical re-engineering work and mechanical selection. The motor foundations and couplings were modified and we also installed new motors. We installed a completely new control system as well as controllers and a PLC card with grapple control together with an energy recovery system. We also fitted a new overload protection and new joysticks. The air-conditioning was replaced and damping materials installed to increase user comfort for the crane operator. For operator comfort and safety we installed camera systems in the boom and machine housing. Double layer protection devices were fitted. Once the job was completed, we put the crane under test load followed by official recommissioning. The job was completed to the full satisfaction of both parties.
